Easy 3-Step Rice Pudding Recipe

The starch from the rice thickens the milk while cooking, making this dish a creamy treat that’ll leave your stomach satisfied.

Ingredients

It doesn’t take a professional chef to make a yummy rice pudding—most of what comprises this sweet treat can be found in your kitchen cupboards! All you need is a rice cooker and you’re good to go. 

Here are the basic ingredients you’ll need:

  • 2 cups short grain white rice
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 5½ cups skim milk
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 ½ cups skim milk

*For the milk, you can opt for plant-based alternatives such as almond milk or oat milk.


Directions

STEP 1. Combine 5 ½ cups of skim milk, rice, sugar, and cinnamon on a rice cooker.

STEP 2. Cook the mixture for one cycle in the rice cooker for 20 minutes until the rice turns creamy.

STEP 3. Add the remaining 2 ½ cups of skim milk and stir well. Let the pudding cool down before serving. 

Per serving, this rice pudding recipe has 310.4 calories and 10.6g of protein. If you want to cut down on sugar, you can also use an alternative such as Splenda with 1/3 of the amount. 

As said earlier, this recipe is also vegan-friendly; just switch regular milk for a plant-based option such as almond, oat, or coconut milk.
