We admit it: Joseph Joseph rice cooker is meant for the lazy, the newbie cook, or both. It doesn’t come with a lot of options and complicated machinery like other rice cookers, but if you want to just cook rice and not think about it, then this is the product for you.
The unit is designed with your convenience in mind. All you need to do is just pop the bad boy in the microwave, set it for around 15 minutes, and then go about your business. After meals, add it to the dishwasher to make clean up that much easier. With the popularity of the Instant Pot brand, the Gourmia GRC970 flies under the radar. Underrated in all capacities, this item is perfect not only for big families but also for budget-conscious consumers, as well as living situations that require shared kitchens. Whether you are unfamiliar with rice cookers or generally don’t know your way around the kitchen, the Gourmia GRC970 is the cooking companion you never knew you needed.
Compared to other cookers we’ve reviewed so far, this is definitely the easiest way to cook rice. The Joseph Joseph rice cooker provides you with all the tools you need to serve fluffy rice and grains, comprising of a large 2-L cooking pot with a lid, a colander, a measuring cup, and a multi-purpose rice paddle that also acts as the lid’s lock.
To make rice, just measure the desired quantity of rice into the colander, rinse, and then drain. Place the colander into the cooking pot, add the correct quantity of water, and then secure the lid on top using the rice paddle. Take note that this rice cooker works with all power ratings in domestic microwaves.
Believe it or not, everything you need is already built into the unit. The Joseph Joseph rice cooker is designed in such a way that you don’t need other equipment to wash and cook your rice. Even its rice paddle doubles down as the lock of your lid and handles for the item itself.
While it’s nowhere near as fancy as a digital rice cooker, the fact is that this microwave cooker can be chucked into the dishwasher, so there’s less cleanup to worry about. A plug-in rice cooker, on the other hand, contains removable, dishwasher-safe parts, with the added necessity of wiping down the main unit.

The Joseph Joseph rice cooker is, as its name states, meant to be used for the microwave. It’s easy and simple. Most people appreciate its simplicity and use it whenever they just want a relatively large batch of rice without thinking too much about it.
To my surprise, I was met with perfectly cooked rice that was up-to-par, if not better than, the stuff made in an Instant Pot and, yep, I was able to make 5-6 cups at a time. The process was much quicker than my Instant Pot prepping, too.
