The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has stated that the corn and rice planting in Missouri has picked up its pace recently. The planting progress is due to the cool and dry weather, allowing farmers to attend to the crops in the field.
Corn planting began with 14% of it being completed, and has progressed into 84% by the end of May. As for rice, 2% of the crop emerged at the beginning, and as the months progressed, 88% of it has been planted and 70% has emerged.
The USDA notes that the rice progress is faster than normal.
